Whether you are an experienced mountaineer or just starting out and in need of guidance, the club's vast experience offers the opportunity to experience and share hiking and mountaineering with like-minded individuals who has a love for adventure and an appreciation of nature. The club offers its members access to a wide variety of breathtaking areas, well off the beaten track. These include access to its own and other MCSA sections' properties and mountain huts (read more here).
Our mountaineering and hiking events varies from easy walks to real adventures. If you are interested please contact the relevant meet leader. This can be done either at the Thursday evening social before the meet or by phone/email. Newcomers, friends and families are welcome, but contact must be made with the leader well beforehand. Determining the size of the group and whether individuals has the suitable experience and abilities is the leaders prerogative.

The standard meeting place for starting all meets is in the parking area in front of the Westway Centre at the corner of Cape Road and 6th Avenue Newton Park and the time is 08:00 unless otherwise stated.

Weekly Wednesday Lady's Slipper Walk
Every Wednesday afternoon a group meet at 4pm at the Westway Centre and go out and climb our own Lady’s Slipper. The actual climb uses the existing footpath and usually starts at 4:45pm and is over by 6:15pm. The group often follow the climb with an inexpensive meal at a country restaurant. Members and guests welcome.
